Mother's aren’t just for Mother’s Day
And why we're hosting the FMG Takeover tonight
Here’s how my Mother’s Day started.
Frankie bowled into our bedroom, announcing, “It’s Big Daddy’s Day,” and giving his dad, James, a big hug and kiss. I reminded him that it was not. In fact, it was Mother’s Day, so I should get a cuddle.
“But I only like you a little bit,” (he indicated with his hands about 15 cm apart) and I like Daddy this much (arms spread wide).
“Frankie, you can’t come to the restaurant tonight if you don’t give Mummy a cuddle,” James tried desperately.
It was pitiful. I didn’t want the bribe cuddle.
I wanted to explain to Frankie that I’d given up my whole life for him and his brothers but it would be a pointless argument to a three-year-old who already thinks Daddy is way cooler.
My husband gave me a hug and told me they’d appreciate it one day. Maybe.
Thank God, my own mum booked us massages. Why does it take a mum to see a mum?

Seriously, how was it for you?
Maybe there was breakfast in bed.
Maybe there were flowers.
Maybe the kids made you a card.
Maybe you got the recognition and appreciation you really deserve for once.
But underneath it all, the mental load, the mum guilt, the juggle are probably still just as real as they were last week.
Mother’s Day can feel a bit token. Our one day. Our one chance to grab the mic.
That’s why we’re hosting the FMG Mother’s Day Takeover tonight. So we can get together and have real, raw, honest conversation about motherhood.
I’ll also be sharing the 4-step framework that has helped hundreds of mums break up with mum guilt and make clearer, kinder decisions about their time and energy.
